LAST UPLOAD

a three part horror series from the minds behind “the book”

Three teenage girls spend their school holidays investigating the paranormal in their quiet Australian hometown. What begins as a fun holiday project soon becomes a descent into terror when the three investigators discover that some things are better left unseen. Across three chilling investigations, they discover that some local legends are more than stories, and some footage should never be uploaded.

A D'faces Film
Written and Directed by Michal Hughes
in collaboration with teen ensembles from D'faces of Youth Arts and Ramble Theatre

About the project:

This series developed from the project "Regional Flying Monster Service," which brought teens from Whyalla and the Riverland together to hone their film and performance skills under the expert guidance of professional artists and arts workers. All three scripts were written in collaboration with participants from Ramble Arts and D'faces, with co-writing credits going to young people from ages 10-18. Our teens from each location spent a week camping in the D'faces hall, spending their daylight (and many nighttime) hours on set with artists Michal Hughes, Stu Nankiville, and Sam Wannan, filming the second and third installments of what is now Last Upload. The Riverland students then returned home, and the Whyalla cohort continued to spend weekends, holidays, and evenings after school finishing the films and shooting "It's Only Skin Deep," the first installment in the series. For many of our long term participants, this project may be their last ever with D'faces, as over 50% of our senior program members are graduating this year and moving on to their next big adventures.
